About Us

We are Scott, Lindsay and Koda, a dynamic couple and our energetic husky, all hailing from the breathtaking landscapes of Newfoundland and Labrador, who can’t sit still for too long and have a relentless passion for exploration and seeing something new. Our adventure began in high school where we were constantly running into each other in various classes and after school  during Photography Club and Outdoor Pursuits Club. Our shared love for the great outdoors only grew from there and the thrill of adventure continues to lead us on a never-ending chase to find the next destination.

Us

We may be high school sweethearts who turned into avid adventurers, but our backgrounds and interests couldn’t be more diverse. Lindsay (she/her) has degrees in Biology and Social Work, is a force to be reckoned with in social justice advocacy and community work. When she’s not advocating for a better world, she’s pursuing her passions for photography, crafts, kayaking, cycling, road trips, and travel. She’s the unofficial social media creator, certified road trip manager, and the ultimate snack supplier.

The taller and more logical half of this duo, Scott, holds degrees in Geography and Civil Engineering, and he’s been an explorer his whole life. He comes from a long line of passionate storytellers and has a naturally curious mind that it’s really no surprise his path has led him here. Scott’s fascination with how people and communities interact with their environments drives his passion to capture and share stories of the lost and forgotten places in our world. Scott is the author, photographer, web and social media creator for the 2021 best-selling book, Hidden Newfoundland, as well as the newly released companion book, Hidden Nova Scotia. With Lindsay along for the ride, he is currently working on uncovering the hidden treasures in the remaining two Atlantic provinces, New Brunswick and PEI.

Sharing Our Stories

So, what inspired us to start PursuitofAdventure.ca? We want to record and share our exhilarating adventures, small and large, with the world, hopefully inspiring others to step outside their comfort zones and explore the globe and their own backyards. We believe that adventure knows no bounds and that a limited budget or experience should never hold you back. And how did we get the name? We deliberated back and forth over several evenings (and many craft beers) looking back to where we first started and wanted to honour that first after school club that took us outside geocaching, hiking, winter camping, snowshoeing, and wayfinding, and ultimately what we have been doing together for the past 12 years-always in the pursuit of adventure!

This blog is a testament to our experiences, a platform where we can recount our escapades, promote the preservation of our communities’ heritage and environment, share travel tips, show you cute dog pictures, and most importantly, inspire you to find the hidden wonders that surround you. From kayaking and hiking to the stories behind abandoned ruins and the creative projects we undertake in between, we hope that PursuitofAdventure.ca can be your guide to uncovering new ways to explore your world, whether by trail, water, or road.
